Idea Sparkr AI is a Google Docs™ add-on that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to help users generate ideas without writing for them. Our goal is to enhance your creative process while ensuring your privacy is protected.
Information We Collect
Website Usage:
- Cookies: We use cookies to enhance your browsing experience and analyze site traffic.
- Contact Forms: If you submit a contact form, we collect your name, email address, and any additional information you provide.
Google Docs Extension:
- Google Account Email: Collected and stored to manage your subscription, usage, and account-related functions.
- Education Level & User Type: This is collected to tailor the user experience according to your preferences.
- Usage Data: This includes timestamps and query types (e.g., Book Report, Press Release) to understand user engagement.
- AI Queries and Google Docs Content: All AI queries are directly sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI’s privacy policy can be found here.
- Input and Queries Not Stored: We do not store any of the input data from your Google Docs or the content of your queries. When you use Idea Sparkr AI to assist with content in Google Docs, the input and output are directly processed and transmitted to OpenAI. This data is not retained by us at any point.
- Data Transmission: The contents of your Google Docs and AI queries are processed transiently by OpenAI to generate responses, after which no identifiable data is kept either by Idea Sparkr AI or OpenAI for any purpose beyond the immediate response generation.
- Limited Use: Idea Spark AI’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
FERPA Compliance
- We strive to meet FERPA compliance standards to protect student data. Any data submitted by educational institutions or students is handled with utmost care to ensure it is used solely for educational purposes under the direct control of the educational institution.
How We Use Your Information
- Subscription Management: We use your Google Account email to manage subscriptions and account-related functions.
- Personalization: Collected data is used to tailor the service experience to your Education Level and User Type.
- Service Improvement: Usage data is analyzed to enhance the overall user experience and improve our services.
- Data Handling for Educational Institutions: For educational users, data is processed only as directed by the educational institution, ensuring compliance with FERPA.
Data Security
- Encryption: All personal data, including user email and usage data, is encrypted during transit using TLS encryption and at rest using AES-256. This ensures that your data remains protected from unauthorized access at all stages.
- Access Control: Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel who require it for performing their job functions. We implement role-based access control (RBAC) to limit data access.
Third-Party Payments
We use Stripe to handle payments. Stripe’s privacy practices apply to these transactions. Idea Sparkr AI does not store any payment card information.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except under the following conditions:
- Service Providers: Such as Stripe, for payment processing.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations or in response to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or other government demands.
Retention and Deletion of Google User Data
We retain Google user data, including your Google Account email for as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by legal or regulatory obligations. Specifically:
- Google Account Email: Retained for as long as necessary to manage your subscription and provide services or as required by law.
- Usage Data: Retained for 12 months to analyze service use and enhance our offerings.
- AI Queries: We do not store the content of AI queries (input or responses). All data is sent to OpenAI transiently and is not retained.
Upon request for account termination or data deletion, we will delete your data within 30 days, unless required to retain it due to legal obligations.

FERPA Compliance Measures
- Data Use Limitation: Student data is only collected for educational purposes under the direct control of the respective educational institution.
- Parental Rights and Transparency: If you are a student or a parent, you may request access to, corrections of, or deletion of any educational data associated with you. Contact us at [email protected] for such requests.
- Written Agreements: We enter into Data Protection Agreements (DPA) with educational institutions to ensure that the data handled via our service is FERPA compliant.

- Deletion: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data.
Data Security Incident Management
- In the unlikely event of a data breach, we have an Incident Response Plan in place to promptly address and mitigate the impact. We will notify affected individuals and educational institutions in accordance with applicable laws and FERPA requirements.
